Banks That Lie

Don't you just love the banking world today? You'd think with all the competition out there, some of them would realize promises made need to be kept.I've just gone through a head banging (I'd like to strangle someone) experience with CHASE!

I've had a credit card with them for a lot of years and the first part of this year opened a business checking account. All was right with the world for serveral months...calls from my "personal banker" urging me to use my debit card to activate it and avoid a service fee and making sure I was happy with their service. So, Saturday I get my bank statement and there was a Service Fee. Reached the wonderful personal banker this morning and he now tells me I misunderstood...he meant I needed to use the credit card (which he told me I could just put away for safe keeping if I didn't need it right now) and not the debit card.

It gets better. As the conversation digressed he also informed me I have to use the debit card five times...after all it costs them to open the accounts.Of course, all of this can be made to go away and EVERYTHING will be free if I just move my personal checking account over to them.LIKE HELL...I will not be blackmailed into opening a personal account with them.

I told him it can all go away with him canceling all credit/debit cards connected to this account and I'll be over tomorrow to close out the checking account.Just wanted to let folks know...if you don't have a lot of money to run through your accounts at CHASE, don't bother to open a business account unless you want to pay and keep paying...for their lies.

Tick-Tock, times a wasting

Just read a blog by a friend lamenting not meeting her goal. I find myself there too. Created a business plan and set down this weekend to rework it. WOW, the things I've already not accomplished! Impressive...or is that depressing?

Anyway, I've decided to take my critique partners advice...stop beating myself senseless (she'll take care of that for me) and set new goals. That I've done and view today as the first day of my new plan. As Wayne Dyer would say "Excuses Begone" and now I'm off to work the plan I've made.

First TV exposure

Had to be at a local Borders at the butt crack of dawn for a Channel 2 news show that came out to promote the up coming Colorado Romance Writers Conference this coming weekend. Chris Parente, the guy who does the interviews, was a sweetie to work with and the people in the group who came out were terrific!

And a special "Thank You" to our actress, Mallory Hicks, who held her own with the insanely funny Chris in the short scenes from books.

Borders was accomodating on our needs before and once the TV crew arrived. Jeffrey, the manger, went above and beyond opening the store to us and arranging a Romance display in the perfect spot.

Now that I've had my moment in the sun it's back to real world life. Laundry awaits as does the book that needs to get finished. You'd think the darn thing would write itself with all the time it has just waiting for me!

Stress equals no sleep

Several years ago my sleep habits became poor ones and they lasted a lot of years. You know, the waking up in the middle of the night unable to get back to sleep, tossing and turning until guilt over the possibility of waking hubby sends you downstairs to read, watch mindless television or work for a few hours. Then back to bed with the hope you can at least get in an hour or so before the alarm screams in your ear.

Tired didn't come close to the way I felt some days...zombie was more like it. About a month ago I found a doctor who actually listened and worked with me to get back into sleeping. Yes, most nights I actually slept more than two or three hours and have been feeling so much more energetic and ready to tackle life.

Then last night hit. My brain was on overload with the things happening this week and also trying to figure out how to deal with a really stupid mistake I made Friday...well, it's safe to say I stressed out big time. Out the window went all the wonderful sleep and once again I'm back to moving through my day in slow motion.

Do you ever experience this problem and if so how do you deal? Look forward to hearing how others achieve the oh so important sleep factor in times of stress.

Is it just me or are some of the sites becoming a real PITA with the way they keep changing things.

Tired, frustrated and ready to forget the whole thing!

The Golden Globes

The Golden Globes

I confess, watching the red-carpet arrivals for award shows is one of my closet addictions. Last night was the Golden Globes and I caught two different networks doing their thing. The hoops the interviewers jump through can be painful and frankly some of them are just downright agony.

Then there are the glam cams and frankly, some of them shouldn’t happen because there was nothing glamorous to see. There were beautiful gowns and some not so beautiful. Also, several cases of, “didn’t anyone tell the attendee this was a dress-up event?”

But, the thing I enjoyed most (or maybe least is more accurate) was some of the hairstyles. Several men and women went out of their way to give ‘bad hair day’ its full meaning. One actress needs to fire her hair stylist. Heck, they forgot to comb over all the teasing they put in and she looked like she’d just crawled out of bed. Too bad since her gown was beautiful.

And some of the men…OMG. Is sticking your finger in the electric outlet before you leave the newest look in male hair fashion?

Hung in there for a little while on the awards themselves before giving it up and going to bed. In the time I did watch, didn’t see anything I couldn’t catch on the news in the morning. After all, four a.m. comes awfully early around here.
